Daily Affirmations in the Middle of a Pandemic

Share this...FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestemailLike most- COVID-19 has tried to take my edges, it’s called me everything but a child of God and even tried to cancel my wedding. My immediate reaction was to freak out, cry, pray, and then start again from step one. Fortunately, I’m finally feeling at peace with the new reality this pandemic has ushered into my life. The best tool that I have used to get back to this place has been sticking with my morning routine. In the morning I get up, do some light stretches, journal, read my bible and start the morning with daily affirmations. These cards remind me who I am, keep me assured…

    Healthy Coping Skills I’ve Learned

Share this...FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestemailThe end of last year was hard. I wish I could say that it was this sudden event that caused my world to turn upside down but it wasn’t. It was a series of small actions that lead to me making myself small, not practicing healthy boundary settings, and the worst depressive episode I have ever had. After taking a very long pause on all things not absolutely necessary, getting back on anti-depressants, and finding a therapist I can trust – I have revised what coping skills I use. I learned painful lessons and as I’m starting to come through the other side, I am understanding that it’s the little…

    Sheet Mask Therapy

Share this...FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestemailSheet Masks are therapeutic. In fact, I find them so therapeutic that I’ve forced everyone in my life to start incorporating them into their weekly routines. They’re quick, simple, and do wonders for your skin and mind. Seriously, pour a glass of wine, sit on your couch with a face mask, and ease your problems away. Frequent sheet masks were one of the things that helped me through my most recent life curveball. I get most of mine in bulk at TJMaxx and Marshalls. They always have great prices and a wide variety of a bunch of American, Korean, and Japanese skincare brands. Through them, I haven’t met a sheet…

    Journal Queen

Share this...FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestemailMental Health Awareness Month! So this month I’m going to highlight a bunch of things that have helped with my anxiety and depression. The first task is journaling. Journaling has been a game changer for me. It allows me to get out ALL of my emotions and thoughts when my mind has too much going on. Do you know how good it feels to write our your frustrations? If you don’t then that’s a sign you should start journaling. I try to write at least once a day. Sometimes I do more and sometimes I only write once a week. But I take my journal with me everywhere. Whenever…

Share this...FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestemail All I did on Saturday was sleep. Well, that and caught up with my best friends. But the important part of this story is that all I did on Saturday was sleep. Friday was my last day at Ulta, things have been coming together with my professional life, and my personal life seemed less frantic this week. So on Saturday, I accidentally, on purpose, took a 5-hour “nap.” When I woke up I spent the next 4 hours watching YouTube, Netflix, and Snapchat until I fell back asleep for another 6 hours. So, once again, all I got so much sleep on Saturday. I can’t remember the last…

Share this...FacebookTwitterLinkedinPinterestemailI’ve been teaching myself about the concept of self-care lately. For me, this means purposely taking the time to disconnect from my social media outlets and my computer in order to recharge, reflect, and de-stress. Since I’ve started consciously doing this, I’ve noticed that I gravitate to three tasks that help me refuel. 1. A Bubble Bath with Wine and a Great Book      This one is my favorite things to do in life. Listen, there is nothing as relaxing as feeling your troubles melt away while getting lost in a book. I make sure I do this at least once a week. When my troubles of the moment…
