My Favorite Makeup Removers

My Favorite Makeup Removers

Since I’ve fallen in love with makeup, I’ve tried my fair share of makeup removers. As the first part of my nightly skincare routine, I adjust the remover to the amount of makeup I’m wearing. Ensuring that your makeup is completely removed before starting your skincare routine helps your skin react better to the products. Essentially, if you are taking off all your makeup off at the end of the night your $300 dollar serum is useless.  Below are my favorite makeup removers for my heavy, medium, and light coverage days.

Heavy Makeup Day- Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

Clinique’s Take the Day Off is everything. It took me a while to try this cult favorite because of the idea of rubbing my makeup in my hands on my face to take it off seemed counterproductive. However, nothing gets my face makeup free faster. Sometimes in other makeup removal techniques, I find I have to repeat myself a few times in order for my face to be completely makeup free. With this, one step and my beat is gone. It’s even safe for me to use around my eyes. Since replenishing this can start to add up on my low-maintenance budget, I reserve it for my heavy duty makeup days so that I don’t run through the jar too quickly.

Medium Coverage- Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

Neutrogena’s makeup remover cleansing towelettes are the best makeup removers on the market. I like them because they get a decent amount of makeup off without having to use too many wipes. When I’m using other makeup wipes, I find that I’m wiping my face with about 3-4 wipes to get everything off. With these, the most I’ll ever use is 2. This is why Neutrogena claims that they remove up to 99.3% of your makeup. Neutrogena makes them in a variety of formulas to address different consumer needs. However, I’ve found that none of them work as well for my skin as the original blue packaging.
Makeup wipes are perfect for on the go cleansing or when you want to quickly take your makeup off at the end of the night. Be careful not to pull too roughly around your eyes or you’ll only speed up signs of aging on your skin.

Light Coverage Day- Simple’s Micellar Water

Micellar water, a combination of purified water and hydrating ingredients, is one of skincare’s recent superstars. It is a gentle way to cleanse your skin and take off your makeup. I like Simple’s because it is the most hydrating formula that I have ever tried. Simple claims that it instantly boosts skin hydration by 90%. It also has vitamins B3 and C to help clear and brighten your skin. I use micellar water to take off my light face makeup and still find it gentle enough to use on and around my eyes. If I’m in a rush, I’ll put some micellar water on a makeup wipe to remove my makeup and cleanse my skin at the same time.
