MAC Liquid Dazzleshadows Review

Like a lot of people, I first fell in love with makeup at the MAC counter. At the time, I had no idea why that was one of the few counters my mom would buy makeup at. Looking back, I realized that at that time MAC was one of the few department store brands that carried our shades. I always admired the MAC girls. To me, MAC makeup was where you went when you were at the top of your field. You got to dress cute, play in makeup, and listen to music that I actually enjoyed all day at work; which is everything that 16-year-old me thought mattered at a full-time job. But most importantly, their makeup was always BOMB. I haven’t seen an artist there who’s beat wasn’t creative, fun, and everything I wish I could do.

Fast forward to my makeup options and skills expanding, I still always love passing by the MAC counter for inspiration. When I saw their new liquid dazzleshadows, I knew I had to get one. Glitter is one of my favorite parts of makeup. It’s flirty, it’s fun, it says “I do what I want and you do what you can.”

I immediately picked up two shades: Panthertized, a black with green and purple pearl shimmer, and Blinking Brilliant, an orange copper shimmer.

I completed the above makeup look with the Blinking Brilliant shade. The wand of the liquid eyeshadow made precise application quick and easy. However, what I wasn’t prepared for was how much I had to apply in order to get a thick payoff. When I tried them in the store it seemed to have a bigger color payoff than when I was at home. I understand that swatches can sometimes be misleading, it just genuinely shocked me that I had to apply so much of it. Fortunately, the layers dry down quickly so it didn’t take too long for me to build up the shadow.

Overall, I loved completing this look with the shadow. However, I don’t think I’ll be running back to MAC to buy more colors. But the shadows that I currently have will definitely be used heavily. The shadows come in 10 different shades and are $22 each.
